"Macbeth" is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and one of his most popular works. He is often regarded as the darkest and most powerful work in his tragedy. The location of the story is set in Scotland, and it observes the evils of chasing power and betrayal in a dramatic way, through psychological action and political struggle.

The play tells of the brave Scottish general Macbeth who got a prediction from the three witches, saying that he will one day become King of Scotland. Out of ambition and his wife's encouragement, Macbeth assassinated King Duncan and established himself as king. Under the torment of self-blame and fantasy, he soon degenerated into a tyrant, and he had to protect himself from persistent hostility, suppressing hostility and envy. The Holocaust and the Civil War made Macbeth and his wife arrogant and crazy until the two men finally died.
